Biblical
Nutrition
What exactly is
Biblical Nutrition and why is it important? |
|
The
Bible diet is the oldest diet on earth because it was established by God
Himself in the Garden of Eden.
“And God said, ‘See, I have given you every herb that yields seed
which is on the face of all the earth, and every tree whose fruit yields
seed; to you it shall be for food.’” (Genesis 1:29)
Notice first of all by this statement that God
identifies two basic vegetarian sources of nourishment for mankind –
herbs and fruits. The Hebrew word for herb is eseb
a broadly defined word which means green, grass, tender shoot or herb.
Falling under this definition would be a wide variety of herb foods
including cereal grasses (wheat, barley, rice, etc.), vegetables, beans,
legumes, berry plants, herbs and spices. |
 |
Furthermore, the seed producing trees would also include a huge variety of
fruits and nuts, including two important Bible foods – grapes and
olives. Not to be overlooked is the fact that God more than likely
intended for us to eat even the seeds themselves since modern science is
now uncovering a host of health-building factors in seeds (and pits).
Here, then, is a list of food categories defined as Bible foods: |
-
Fruits
- Grains
& Cereals
- Vegetables
- Spices
- Legumes
|
- Seeds
- Beans
- Sprouts
- Nuts
- Herbs

Noticeably
absent from this Eden menu (Bible diet) is any form of animal products.
Also missing are food additives, artificial preservatives, colorants,
fungicides, mold inhibitors, extenders, artificial flavorings – you know
– the usual stuff we eat every single day of our lives.
Now we have a template of the perfect foods that God ordained for perfect
man’s original Eden Bible diet. The question then is whether we should
still be eating this way or doesn’t it really matter anymore?
Of course it still matters. In fact, the modern science of nutrition has
shown us that there is a direct link between the diet we follow and the
condition of our health. This being the case, then why would we not opt
for the most perfect foods God ever created for man? B
The
Ten Commandments Of Health
1.
Thou
shalt take into thy body each day, pure oxygenated air, the Breath of
Life. Thou shalt breathe of it deeply, so that it may bathe each and
every part of thy body. For God breathed into Adam and he became a
living soul.
2. Each
day, thou shalt bathe the outside of thy body in pure, clean, Living
Waters and each day thou shalt bathe the inside of thy body by drinking
an abundance of pure, clean, Living Waters.
3. Thou
shalt eat each day from the earth’s table of abundance of natural,
unprocessed, whole foods which the LORD thy God has provided for thee.
Remember to eat thy foods slowly, tranquilly, and never to excess.
4. Know
ye not that thy body is the Temple of the Holy Spirit and that thou must
abstain from all that would pollute God’s Holy Temple? Therefore, do
not defile thy body with drugs, alcohol, tobacco, artificial foods,
chemical food additives, refined foods and all foods stripped of their
nutritional value.
5. Thou
shalt not allow a day to pass without some form of physical exercise,
for life is movement and exercise is movement.
6. Thou
shalt entrust the dark hours of thy day to calm, restful sleep, for God
called the light Day, and the darkness He called Night.
7.
Remember the Sabbath Day to keep it holy. Six days shalt thou labor, and
do all thy work; but the Seventh Day is the Sabbath of the Lord thy God.
In it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter,
thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger
that is within thy gates. For in six days the LORD made heaven and
earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested the Seventh Day;
wherefore the LORD blessed the Sabbath Day, and hallowed it.
8.Thou
shalt permit no day to pass without allowing the Light of the Sun to
touch upon thy skin.
9.Thou
must set aside one day a month to abstain from the consumption of all
foods. This shall be a day of prayer and meditation to the LORD thy God.
10.
Thou shalt let no day pass without performing at least one good deed for
thy neighbor.
Eating
The Bible's Way
A
Brief Summary Of The Principles Of The Bible Diet
-
Try to eat a great variety of fresh raw fruits and vegetables every day.
Fruit salads and vegetable salads are a great way to do this. Try to eat
only those fruits and vegetables that are in season.
-
While cooking certainly can bring out added flavor of foods, be aware
that too much heat and overcooking destroys enzymes and some vitamins.
-
Eat a variety of whole-grains (wheat, barley, rice, corn, buckwheat,
etc.). Try to use the grains as close to unprocessed as possible. This
would include cereal and whole grain breads. Beware of the processed grain
trap. Most of our grain products today are so over-processed, there is
very little nutrition left in them.
-
Eat a variety of seeds and nuts but do not overdo it since these foods
are also very high in calories.
-
Use sprouts, herbs and spices for seasoning.
-
Use olive oil in all cooking and vegetable salads. This is God’s
wonder food. It seems to have the ability to flavor and tie together the
other foods. It is an excellent source of mono-unsaturated oils – the
best kind for your heart. Just make sure the olive oil is 100% extra
virgin.
-
Use dried fruits such as raisins, dates and figs for desserts.
-
Use as little meat as possible and if you can handle it, become a
vegetarian. This is not for everyone, but try it and see if it's for you. Use
low fat meats and never use any pork or pig products.
-
Avoid as much as possible, foods with chemical additives. Be sure and read
all labels.
As the scientific evidence continues to roll in, time and again the Bible
diet scores number one as the eating pattern that builds the greatest
health.
For a snack try having a highly
nutritious and delicious, all natural nutritional bar made from the
seven foods listed below.

The Bible
Bar is a highly nutritious, all natural nutritional bar
made from the seven foods (traditionally referred to as the
seven species) that God calls good in the Book of
Deuteronomy:
wheat, barley, vines
(raisins), figs, pomegranates, olive oil, and honey.
Just before leading the Israelites into the Promised Land, the
LORD describes the land as follows:
"For the LORD your
God is bringing you into a good land, a land of wheat and
barley, of vines and fig trees and pomegranates, a land of olive
oil and honey."

8:7-8) |
